Philadelphia, PA- The BC Men's Squash Team took part in the 2012 CSA National Team Championships in mid February. This year's championships were split between Princeton and Philadelphia and unfortunately the Eagles finished the regular season ranked 33rd and missed going to the top half of the tournament in Princeton by a single spot. While this was disappointing, it meant that BC had the top seed in the E "Chaffee" Division and the overall top seed in Philadelphia. Even though the Eagles were the favorites, they faced tough competition throughout the weekend. BC opened the weekend against Vassar on Friday and had a convincing 7-2 victory placing them in a semi-final match-up with Cal Berkeley. BC had never faced Cal before and was unsure what to expect from the Bears, but they were able to grind out a 6-3 victory sending them to the finals of the Chaffee Cup. Bucknell was the 2 seed and won two impressive matches against Washington-St. Louis (9-0) and Denison (7-2) to send them to the finals against the Eagles. BC knew it was going to be a tough match from the get-go, and Bucknell got off to a fast start by going up 2-0 in each of the first 3 matches. Sophomore Josh Ko and Junior Danny Gleason each showed perseverance and battled back to win each of their matches in 5 games giving the Eagles a 2-1 edge heading into the second round of matches. Sophomore Nick Gadsden also fought to win his 5 game match, while Josh Rosenblat won in 4 games to give BC a 4-2 lead. Senior Teddy Taylor had the chance to end his college career with a victory and clinch the Chaffee Cup title, but lost a tough match in the 5th and deciding game. Sophomore Milo Watanabe closed out the match for the Eagles with a strong 3 game victory at the 1 position to seal the match for BC, while Sophomore Britt Gordon won his match shortly after. The final match score was 6-3, and Boston College was crowned the 2012 Chaffee Cup Champions and finished 33rd in the nation for the season! Cambridge, MA -The BC Men's Squash Team participated in the CSA National Team Championships during the final weekend in February. Facing a tough draw, the Eagles opened up their tournament at MIT and lost a nail-biter to Kenyon College 4-5 while having a chance for victory with match-ball. Their loss put the men in the consolation bracket where they faced Haverford College the following day at Harvard University. A 6-3 victory gave the Eagles a matchup against Johns Hopkins on the final day of Nationals at MIT. After two difficult matches, BC fought to a 5-4 victory to conclude a great season and finish 37th in the national rankings.
