Boston College Figure Skating Club
Congratulations to the BC Eagles Synchronized Skating Team who captured 1st Place in the Open Collegiate Division at Easterns 2009!
Mission Statement:
Membership in the Boston College Figure Skating Club is open to all current, full-time students enrolled in the university. Our purpose is to help skaters continue to excel in the sport they love at the appropriate competitive level, as well as to encourage students that have an interest in recreational figure skating. We strive to create opportunities for skaters to compete at the national, regional and local levels in all disciplines of figure skating by providing practice facilities and coaches. The figure skating club seeks to promote a commitment to education that is necessary for a student-athlete. The club provides an outlet for skaters to make friends and share their passion for the sport through practice sessions, exhibitions, competitions, and other team activities.
About BCFSC:
The Boston College Figure Skating Club is a student run organization with a club sport status at Boston College. BCFSC has two components: freestyle and synchronized skating. Freestyle is available at Conte Forum, the BC rink on camps, and there are collegiate competitions in which BCFSC participates that are prefect for whichever level of competition one desires (freestyle or dance). The synchronized skating team is comprised of approximately 20-24 skaters who skate a program as one. Tryouts are held during the early fall and the team skates together throughout the year. The team competes at the Eastern Regional Synchronized Skating Championship and if they qualify, the team goes on to skate at Synchronationals. The synchronized skating team has qualified for nationals each year since it became a requirement to qualify.
