About The Club
BCFC is a member of the New England Collegiate Club Soccer League (NECCSL) East Division along with Harvard, Northeastern, Brown, Babson, Tufts and Boston University. Independent of the league, the Club participates in various local tournaments throughout the fall season as well as the annual NECCSL League Tournament. The culmination of each fall season is the NIRSA Region One Tournament, the regional qualification for the Northeast held in Toughkenamon, PA.
The two finalists of the 24-team regional gain entrance in the National Tournament Championship, as BCFC did in 2007. Nationals are held in Pheonix, Arizona in late November and also includes an Open Division competition. As a club, it is BCFC's goal to participate in both the regional and national championships each fall.History
In 2011, first-year coach Luke Kelly led BCFC to a Region I tournament bid. In their first game of the tournament, where there was a battle that found both teams mired in bad field conditions, BCFC gets a late goal from Das against Buffalo to go top of the group. However, BCFC fell to #1 ranked PSU. BCFC allows a goal in each half and is unable to finish chances to fall to 1-1 in regionals. In their last game in group play, BCFC scores first, but draws GW. An early goal from McDonough gives BCFC the lead, but a GW equalizer late in the first half earns a draw as BCFC hits the post twice with 30 seconds remaining. BCFC fails to make it out of the group stage with a 1-1-1 record. The team finishes 13th in Region I. Regular Season Record: 5-2-3 Tournament Record: (1-1-1)The 2010 campaign saw BCFC partake in both the Regional and National Tournaments, led by coach Ben Jackson, a captain of the squad in 2009. After an up-and-down regular season, the Eagles registered victories over Boston-rivals Boston University and Tufts at Alumni Stadium right before regionals. In Pennsylvania, BCFC would take three separate 1-0 leads in pool play, but wound up tying Northeastern 2-2, Princeton 2-2 and UPenn 1-1. The three draws were not enough to advance to the knockout stages. However, the Eagles earned a berth in the Open Division of nationals, but two 2-0 defeats to eventual finalists, Cal Poly and James Madison, would see the 4-3 triumph over Fort Lewis not enough to make it out of pool play. As some measure of consolation, the Club was awarded with the 2010 National Championship Best Sportsmanship Award for the Open Division.
In 2009, coached by recent alum Greg Badavas, the senior-laden squad began the season 4-0 in NECCSL play. Traveling to Brown University for a round robin day of soccer, the Eagles tied Brown 0-0, before falling to #1-ranked Penn State 3-2. Inclement weather would see the regional tournament cancelled altogether, ending the Club's hopes for a berth in nationals. The fall season finished in similarly heartbreaking fashion, as BCFC defeated UMass 3-0 in the League Tournament quarterfinal, but was beaten by a last-minute Harvard goal in the semifinal, falling 2-1. The team captured its only silverware of the season in the spring, when they defeated Northeastern 5-1 and Harvard 2-0 to take home the Kick Out Malaria Cup, hosted by Harvard. In 2007, BCFC won the NIRSA Region One tournament in Eastern Pennsylvania, meriting a further trip to Pensacola, Florida for the national tournament, playing teams from the University of Michigan and University of Illinois. This was the most successful season in BCFC's history.Press
