Beating the Street by Peter Lynch

Beating the street is a book about investing written by Peter Lynch, legendary mutual fund manager of the famous Magellan mutual fund. He begins by taking a look at the track record of various investment instruments and concluding that stocks are the most rewarding way to invest. The book explains his investment style by going back to examine specific stock recommendations he made in the early nineties. Beating the Street does a good job of showing how to evaluate a plethora of different kinds of stocks and does a great job of convincing the amateur investor to buy stocks in the first place. More Money Than God by Sebastian Mallaby

"More Money Than God" by Sebastian Mallaby, published in June this year, is a well-written, up-to-date, inside look at how a hedge fund functions. Anyone who's interested in becoming a trader or investment manager should read this book. (I wouldn't recommend it for those without a basic understanding of finance, but for those who have taken MF127 or MF151, it's pretty accessible and not overwhelming) - Jamie Zhang '12
