    Jefferies & Co. Investment Banking Interview Workshop

    This will be an interactive event where students will gain a better understanding of the Investment Banking interview process, and how to stand out in an interview. The event will consist of a mock interview with a current junior, and this student will be guaranteed a spot on Jefferies' interview closed list for the summer intern recruiting process.     The BCFA will be holding its First General Meeting on Monday, September 16 in Fulton 511. All students interested in becoming members of the Academy are strongly advised to attend the meeting. Topics discussed will include: Introductions of class officers, overview of fall semester events and trips, and how students can become more involved. We look forward to seeing you there!
  • Careers in Finance Alumni Panel - December 6th at 6:00 pm


    We will be hosting our annual Careers in Finance Alumni Panel this Thursday, December 6th at 6:00 pm in the Fulton Honors Library. BC alumni from a variety of backgrounds will be on hand to share their experiences as young professionals in the financial services industry. They will also be available for networking afterwards. The following firms will be represented: Deutsche Bank, Fidelity Investments, JP Morgan Private Bank, Summit Partners.

    Students of all classes are encouraged to attend this event as it will provide insight into some of the exciting opportunities in the financial services industry and a chance to get a head start on the internship recruiting process. Pizza and refreshments will be served!
  • Finance Advising Event! - October 25th


    Thursday, October 25th, 5:00 pm in Fulton 511


    Are you a Finance Concentration? You are invited to attend the Finance Advising In-Gathering. This event will feature a panel of seven professors from the Finance Department who can answer your questions before registration! Sophomores will benefit from learning more about the concentration, while juniors and seniors will have a chance to meet some professors and get more information about specific concentration electives. Pizza will be served after the event!

  • Intro. to Finance Event - October 15th

    October 15th at 7:00 PM in Devlin 008 we will be hosting our annual "Introduction to Finance" event with Professor Mike Barry. Professor Barry will give an overview of different careers available in the financial services industry and what you should be doing during your time at BC to prepare yourself for them.
    This event will be especially helpful for freshmen and sophomores but is open to all classes. I highly recommend attending this event if you have any interest in pursuing a job or internship in investment banking, sales and trading, investing (hedge funds, private equity, asset management, managing your own portfolio, etc.), corporate finance, securities research, or other career in finance. Professor Barry is one of the best teachers at BC and knows as much about the financial services industry as anyone, so this is an important starting point for any underclassmen who intend to pursue careers in finance.
  • Wall Street Trek- November 2nd

    We are scheduled to visit Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs and Jefferies & Company on Friday, November 2nd. The trip will last all day and is one of the most valuable networking opportunities at Boston College for juniors and sophomores seeking internships in finance. Be sure to submit your application by Sunday at midnight in order to be considered.

  • Boston Finance Trip - April 27th

    This Friday the Boston College Finance Academy will be hosting its annual Boston Finance Trip. We will be going to State Street Corporation, followed by MFS Investment Management and Citi. The trip will allow students to network with business professionals, BC alumni and representatives from each of these firms. The trip will likely run from 9:00am to 4:30pm. The trip will be free but all attendees will be responsible for their own transportation costs. Potential attendees must sign up before 11:59pm on Tuesday, April 24th to be considered.   • Course Advising

    We will be hosting our course advising office hours on Tuesday, April 10th from 11:00am to 2:00pm in Fulton 240, in which representatives from the Finance Academy E-Board and other CSOM seniors will be available for underclassmen looking for advice on course selections. If you're looking for any recommendations for specific classes or professors, please stop by at your convenience and we'll be happy to help you. Pizza and refreshments will be served.
  • Business Boot Camp

    With all of the pre-professional clubs on campus, we will be hosting the Business Boot Camp on a tentative date in the Fulton Honors Library. All the business clubs come together and educate club members on a variety of topics. This is also an opportunity for the groups to interact with new students that they otherwise may not meet. Come learn or review business skills before walking into an interview. All class years, schools, and majors welcome.

  • Investment Banking- January 31st

    We will be hosting an investment banking presentation with Josh Rosenbaum, managing director at UBS Investment Bank and author of Investment Banking: Valuation, Leveraged Buyouts and Mergers & Acquisitions, one of the most highly regarded books on valuation, on next Tuesday, January 31st at 5:00pm in Higgins 310. Josh will be giving an educational presentation on valuation and investment banking. He will also be available for Q&A and networking. We encourage students from all classes to attend (underclassmen, so they may learn more about investment banking and finance, and upperclassmen, so they may have the opportunity to network with Josh)

  • Robert W. Baird Investment Banking Panel- January 26th

    We will be hosting several events with Robert W. Baird (see attached flyer). On January 26th, firm representatives will be present for Dean's Coffee from 12:00 to 3:00. Later, we will be hosting an investment banking panel highlighting the advantages of middle-market investment banking from 5:00 to 6:30 in the Fulton Honors Library. Next, on Friday, January 27th, Baird will be hosting a networking and social event at Cityside from 4:30 to 6:30 (food and drinks will be provided). Given Baird's commitment to bringing in investment banking summer analysts for its Chicago office, we highly encourage juniors to apply.

    Our third and final Wall Street Trip will be held Friday, January 20th. We will be visiting Deutsche Bank, Barclays Capital, and Jefferies at their New York headquarters. The trip will allow students to network with business professionals from each of these firms. BC alumni and firm representatives from investment banking, sales and trading, credit research, etc. will be present. This trip is especially relevant for juniors in advance of summer analyst recruiting. However, we will also accept some sophomores and a few freshmen, as well.

  • Career Launch- January 20th

    Amy Donegan of the CSOM undergraduate Dean's Office will be hosting Career Launch on Friday, January 20th from 10:00am to 1:00pm in the Fulton Honors Library. This is a crash course to help sophomores and juniors get ready for the summer internship season. The emphasis is on small group interview prep categorized by career fields. RSVP via Eaglelink.

  • Speed Networking- January 20th

    BCFA will be hosting "Speed Networking" this Wednesday at 5:00 in the Fulton Honors Library, in which 10-15 seniors will be available for sophomores and juniors, in particular, who are interested in pursuing finance-related internships. The students will meet with each senior for about five minutes rotations, in which they can ask for networking advice, have their resume critiqued, practice interview questions, or simply learn more about each area of finance. Seniors from a variety of finance-related backgrounds, including investment banking, sales & trading, capital markets, private wealth management, and asset management will be available for networking. We encourage you attend if you have any questions at all about the process. With on-campus interviews starting in a few weeks, we think that the senors who have undergone the process are a valuable source of guidance.

    Interested in getting a unique perspective of the current events in the economy? Look no further. Prof. Kisgen, a finance professor at BC that worked as a investment banker for seven years, just recently started a new blog: Capitalist Corner. At Capitalist Corner, Prof. Kisgen lets his (humorous) thoughts run free regarding "Politics, Wealth Creation, and the Economy". There is no better way to catch up on some current events than by visiting this blog couple minutes each day.
