Prospective Weekend

This weekend, also known as the Annual Asian Caucus Discovery Weekend, started 5 years ago in an effort to increase Boston College's exposure to the outside Asian American community. The program gives prospective students an opportunity to meet other potential students, student leaders, faculty, and administrators. During their weekend here, Asian Caucus helps students learn what college life is like. The prospective students live in dorms hosted by an upperclassmen Asian Caucus member, who is equipped to help and address any questions or concerns the prospectives can have. Aside from the activites planned out by the Freshmen Academy committee, the Prospectives gets a chance to attend classes with their hosts and go to workshops while utilizing campus resources. Discovery Weekend has been extremely successful in introducing the personality of Boston College to early-admitted Asian Pacific Islander/American students from the point of view of current students. Every year, more than 90 percent of the participants matriculate into Boston College, choosing our school over competing universities such as Harvard and Cornell. Furthermore, many of those students become active leaders on campus. The Asian Caucus' Annual Discovery Weekend is vital to the lifeline of the APIA Community at Boston College and has been positively contributing to the institution.
