APACAR (Asian Pacific/Islander American Community Awareness Retreat)
Date: May 1-2, 2010
Location: Camp Yavneh
APACAR (Asian Pacific/Islander American Community Awareness Retreat) is Asian Caucus' most well-known annual retreat. Its purpose is to bring the old and new leaders of all seven cultue clubs and Asian Caucus to reflect on the past year through group discussions, activities, and mini-panels. The old leaders examine how much they have accomplished in their careers at  BC and they enlighten rising seniors and current underclassmen leaders with advice on how to approach the upcoming year. The old leaders are also able to express the kinds of mistakes they have made, the challenges and obstacles they met along their way, and their own personal struggles. Through these reflections, next year's leaders are left with strong advice on how to work more efficiently and productively. APACAR has been a tradition of AC solidarity to bring all these leaders together. Not to be confused with APACLAR, which is more of a leadership workshop (but also just as important), APACAR's focus is to energize the new executive boards, inspire leaders, and help preserve the legacy between the transitions of old executive boards to new executive boards. Students will leave this retreat more driven to act in the BC community and strive for further cooperation amongst the culture clubs as well as BC as a whole. APACAR continues to be one of Asian Caucus's top priorities because it encompasses all aspects of our mission statement including "to foster strong relationships among the members of the cultural clubs" and to train future leaders to "recognizing the common struggles that are shared with members of the AHANA community" and to "commit ourselves to reaching out to the diverse audience that makes up Boston College."

APACLAR (Asian Pacific-Islander Leadership Aptitude Retreat)
Date: October 25, 2010
Location: Brighton Campus
Spanning all day, the Leadership Aptitude retreat provides a perfiect opportunity for Asian Caucus to welcome the new executive board members of its seven culture clubs and prepare them for the new year. APACLAR accomplishes a number of different tasks. This agenda is very dfferent from the one undertakne by APACAR in that it is more workshop centered rather than reflection based.
