From Mind to Mic

From Mind to Mic was created by one of our former Co-Executives, Andy Song (AC 05-06, A&S 07) in 2005.

The Annual "From Mind to Mic" fall concert celebrates the success of Asian American artists and musicians. Although there has been an increase in the presence of Asian Americans in high profile positions, a lot of that success has eluded the community in the realm of arts and music. This does not stem from a lack of talent, but rather it is a result of a society still plagued with prejudice and discrimination against Asian Americans trying to make it on the big stage. Asian Caucus believes that it is important to recognize those who have had success in this industry and celebrate their achievements.

In 2009, then Community Relations Chair, Ben Chang brought in Jin the Emcee who was the first Asian American solo rapper to be signed with Ruff Ryders, a label that has signed artists such as DMX, Cassidy and Eve.

In 2011, Community Relations Chair, Grace "Hollaa" Lee, brought in both Aziatix and Iammedic, two up and coming Asian American pop groups. Aziatix is the first Asian-American group featured on AOL, while MySpace, Windows Media, and MSN homepages and Iammedic was the guest performer at Kollaboration NY 2011.
