What is Allies ?Allies is a university recognized student organization whose mission is to Back to TopWhat is an Ally ?An ally is a person who is supportive of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people. It is someone who tries to remain consciously aware of homophobia and is willing to show support of friends, family, and other people who may be of a differing sexual orientation. Being an ally does not imply anything about an individual's personal sexual orientation, just that they are supportive towards LGBTQ people and issues. The group is consistent with, and can be seen as flowing from, the Jesuit tradition that recognizes that all humans as posses God-given dignity and deserve respect and support. Back to TopWhat is the LGBC?LGBC, the Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual Community at Boston College is a student organization, established in 1974. Unlike Allies, the LGBC is neither funded nor officially recognized by the University as a student club; however, it continues to serve the entire Boston College community. Back to TopWhy is there a need for Allies and the LGBC ?Allies and the LGBC have different missions and goals. They are independently viable, and they are both enriching, meaningful, and necessary for their members and the university community as a whole
What does LGBTQ stand for?LGBTQ stands for people that are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered, or Questioning in sexual orientation.
