Philip G. Altbach is the director of the Center for International Higher Education and the J. Donald Monan, SJ professor of higher education in the Lynch School
of Education. Dr. Altbach has extensive experience in the field of comparative and international higher education. He is editor of The International Academic
Profession (1997: Carnegie), co-editor of American Higher Education in the 21st Century (1997: Johns Hopkins, revised edition in press), former editor of the
ASHE journal, The Review of Higher Education, and the editor of International Higher Education: An Encyclopedia (2 volumes). He
is author of Comparative Higher Education, Higher Education in the Third World, and other books. His most recent book is Asian Universities:
Historical Perspectives and Contemporary Challenges (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2004). He co-edited In Defense of American Higher Education
with Patricia Gumport and Bruce Johnstone, published in 2001. Professor Altbach holds a doctoral degree from the University of Chicago. His research interests
include comparative education, history and philosophy of higher education, international education, student political activism, the academic profession, and knowledge
networks.

Damtew Teferra, Coordinator of the INHEA | Email
Damtew Teferra is currently director for Africa and the Middle East of the Ford International Fellowship Program, based at the Institute of International Education in New York. He was founding Editor-in-Chief of the
Journal of Higher Education in Africa. He is author of Scientific Communication in African Universities: External Assistance and National Needs (2003: RoutledgeFarmer) and lead editor of African Higher Education:
An International Reference Handbook (2003: Indiana University Press). He established the International Network for Higher Education in Africa. Damtew holds a Ph.D. from Boston College, USA, a M.Phil. from University of

Liz Reisberg, Research Associate, Coordinator of the IHEC | Email
Liz Reisberg is a Research Associate at the Center for International Higher Education.
Liz is coordinating the development of the International Higher Education Clearinghouse. She was also the founder and executive director of The MBA Tour,
a company that organizes professional recruitment tours throughout the world to help graduate schools of business meet talented candidates for their MBA programs.
Her professional experience and research have focused on international student mobility and higher education reform in Latin America. She earned her PhD at Boston College focusing her dissertation research on new strategies for quality assurance for higher education in Argentina.

Laura E. Rumbley, Research Associate, Managing Director of the INHEA | Email
Laura E. Rumbley leads the Center's Podcast Initiative and is Managing Director of the International Network for Higher Education in Africa (INHEA), under the direction of Dr. Damtew Teferra. Laura is a graduate of the doctoral program in higher education administration at Boston College, where she completed a dissertation on internationalization in the universities of Spain. She holds a bachelor's degree in international politics from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service, as well as a master's degree in international education and training from the School for International Training in Brattleboro, VT. Laura is a former Foreign Service Officer, a former recipient of a Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarship, and has worked for a variety of international education programs at Boston University over the last ten years.

Kara A. Godwin, Graduate Research Assistant, Web Developer | Email
Before joining CIHE, Kara Godwin worked with graduate and international students at Northwestern University's Searle Center for Teaching Excellence and interned at the Study Abroad Office. In her previous career, she was a systems project manager for a consulting firm in the US and UK. Kara holds a bachelors degree in international relations and English from Augustana College (IL) and a master of science in higher education and social policy from Northwestern University. She is working on her doctorate in international higher education at Boston College.

Salina Kopellas, Administrative Secretary of the CIHE | Email
In her 12th year of service to Boston College, Salina Kopellas is the administrative secretary to the director of the Center for International Higher Education. She manages
the Center’s grants and database, and facilitates the editing and dissemination of the Journal of International Higher Education. Prior to joining the Center,
she worked as the administrative secretary to the dean of the Lynch School of Education.
