CERC builds on the Faculty's considerable expertise in comparative studies in education, with the following aims: to facilitate, participate in and initiate a wide range of research projects with comparative perspectives; to support comparative research in education, and to disseminate information throughout the region and further afield through publications, newsletters, research activities, including seminars, symposiums, conferences, etc.; to establish and maintain a wide range of contacts with educational researchers and research institutions in China, in the region and internationally; to provide a centre upon which institutions and organisations within the region can draw for human and other resources for contract research, consultancies, and training in research methods.

Center for Higher Education Policy Studies (CHEPS)
CHEPS is an interdisciplinary research-institute located at the faculty of Public Administration and Public Policy of the Universiteit Twente, the Netherlands. Since 1984, CHEPS
has undertaken and published a considerable amount of research on higher education especially at system and institutional levels. CHEPS seeks to increase our understanding of institutional,
national and international issues that bear upon Higher Education.

Civic Education Project
The Civic Education Project (CEP), an international non-profit organization, has supported grassroots efforts to reform higher education in Central and Eastern Europe and Eurasia since 1991. In 2004 CEP completed its work in Europe and Eurasia and is now taking its highly successful programs to other world regions.

Commonwealth Higher Education Management Service
CHEMS was initiated in 1993 as part of the Commonwealth Higher Education Support Scheme (CHESS) through the Commonwealth Secretariat. Throughout that period of time, CHEMS has been supported by the ACU and has received pump-priming funds from the Commonwealth Fund for Technical Co-operation (CFTC), from UNESCO and the UK's Overseas Development Administration.
Between 1994 and 2001, CHEMS undertook some 70 consultancies, advising and helping universities, governments and higher education agencies world-wide to tackle and solve their management problems. CHEMS ceased operating as a consultancy service following the retirement of the Director, John Fielden, in January 2001.

European Centre for Higher Educaton
UNESCO-CEPES (the European Centre for Higher Education/Centre Europ?n pour l'Enseignement Sup?ieur) was established in September 1972 with a view to promoting co-operation in higher education among Member States of the Europe Region (the countries of Europe, North America, and Israel). The activities of the Centre are focused foremost on higher education in Central and Eastern Europe and?the Director of UNESCO-CEPES also serves as the Representative of UNESCO in Romania.?

The Institute of International Education (IIE) Stockholm University
IIE is one of the few institutes in the Nordic countries specializing in international and comparative education. After more than thirty years in this field, IIE is now well recognized for its contribution to research and training. IIE is an 'international' institute, in the true meaning of the word. It has successfully created a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary research and teaching environment which attracts a number of visiting scholars and lecturers as well as students from many parts of the world.

International Centre for Higher Education Research, INCHER-Kassel
Since 1982 the Center for Research on Higher Education and
Work (Wissenschaftliches Zentrum f? Berufs- und Hochschulforschung)
is a permanent unit of the University. The Centre was founded
as a research unit. Teaching does not belong to its responsibilities.
Nevertheless the professors at the center are also members
of the departments of Kassel University and teach there and
senior researchers at the Center teach as part-time lecturers
as well.?The Center aims to contribute both to the theoretical
and methodological advancement of research and the provision
of practice-relevant systematic knowledge on higher education.

Society for Research into Higher Education (SRHE)
The Society for Research into Higher Education is a UK-based
international learned society concerned to advance understanding
of higher education, especially through the insights, perspectives
and knowledge offered by systematic research and scholarship.

World Council of Comparative Education Societies
WCCES is an international organisation of comparative education societies worldwide and is an NGO in Operational Relations with UNESCO. WCCES was created in 1970 to advance the field of comparative education. WCCES promotes research programmes involving scholars in various countries. Currently, joint research programmes focus on: theory and methods in comparative education, education of women and girls, teacher education, education for peace and justice, and other topics.
Besides organising the World Congress, WCCES issues a Bulletin in Innovation, the publication of the International Bureau of Education in Geneva, Switzerland, and in CERCular, published by the Comparative Education Research Centre, to keep individual societies and their members abreast of activities around the world.

Center for Studies in Higher Education (CSHE)
The Center for Studies in Higher Education at UC Berkeley
is a multi-disciplinary research and policy center on higher
education oriented to California, the nation, and comparative
international issues. The Center’s mission is to produce
and support multi-disciplinary scholarly perspectives on strategic
issues in higher education, to conduct relevant policy research,
to promote the development of a community of scholars and
policymakers engaged in policy-oriented discussion, and to
serve the public as a resource on higher education.

Comparative and Global Studies in Education
The Center for Comparative and Global Studies in Education (CCGSE) is a GSE-wide umbrella for coordinating the courses, academic programs, visiting scholars, and scholarly activities of the GSE faculty and students interested in international comparative and global studies in education. It publishes occasional newsletters, and maintains a library with comparative education references. It also provides a home for visiting scholars.
The Center also houses GSE's principal funded research project in comparative education, the International Comparative Higher Education Finance and Accessibility Project (http://www.gse.buffalo.edu/org/IntHigherEdFinance/). This is a six-year Ford Foundation-financed project that is compiling a worldwide database on the shift of higher education costs from governments and taxpayers to parents and students, as well as the array of government and non-governmental policies designed to maintain higher educational accessibility in the face of this shift.

Higher Education Research Institute (HERI)
The Higher Education Research Institute is based in the Graduate School of Education & Information Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles. The Institute serves as an interdisciplinary center for research, evaluation, information, policy studies, and research training in postsecondary education. HERI's research program covers a variety of topics including the outcomes of postsecondary education, leadership development, faculty performance, federal and state policy, and educational equity. Visiting scholars, faculty, and graduate students have made use of HERI facilities and research resources since its affiliation with UCLA in 1973. The Institute's holdings include more than a hundred datasets that are regularly maintained for analysis of postsecondary education.

The Institute for Higher Education Policy
The Institute for Higher Education Policy is a non-profit, non-partisan organization whose mission is to foster access and success in postsecondary education through public policy research and other activities that inform and influence the policymaking process. These activities include policy reports and studies, seminars and meetings, and capacity building activities such as strategic planning. The primary audiences of the Institute are those who make or inform decisions about higher education: government policymakers, senior institutional leaders, researchers, funders, the media, and private sector leaders.

The Learning Productivity Network
The Learning Productivity Network was founded in 1995 at the State University of New York at Buffalo. D. Bruce Johnstone, former chancellor of the State University of New York and university professor of higher and comparative education, is the founder and director of the Network. A further explanation of Network activities can be found here. The Learning Productivity Network involves both research and policy initiatives. These include a quarterly newsletter, a national steering committee, an electronic discussion group, and several ongoing research projects.

PROPHE is a global network dedicated to building knowledge
