The Evangelizing Parish: Rhetoric or Reality?Is the evangelizing parish reality or only rhetoric? Wednesday, April 9 at 7:00 pm we welcome Allan Figueroa Deck, SJ to explore this question. Scholar, pastor, Jesuit since 1963, author of two books, he has specialized in Hispanic religion, culture and spirituality and in issues of pastoral ministry. This year he was appointed the first Executive Director of the Office for Cultural Diversity in the Church in the newly reorganized United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB).

Parish-Based Response to Social Issues: Catholic Social Teaching in Action?

Saturday, April 19, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, join Alexia Kelley and Chris Korzan of Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good to examine the application to parish ministry of the social doctrine of the Catholic Church. How is this teaching made real and active at the parish level? How prominent in parish ministry is an active concern with social issues? Is there more to be done to encourage social action ministries at the local level? Ms. Kelley is Executive Director and Mr. Korzan regional Director of Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good.
