Promoting Economic Development in Rural Areas
Boston, MA & Raleigh, NC: February 7 - 17, 2012
Ten individuals, including economic strategists, business leaders, government policymakers, and academics from Ireland and Northern Ireland were selected to engage with their American counterparts to explore and share strategies for encouraging economic development in rural areas. The programme examined the role that small business development, inward investment, corporate incentive schemes, workforce education and re-education, and improved infrastructure can play in promoting economic regeneration and vibrancy in areas beyond urban and suburban regions.
