Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability for Smaller Business
Boston, MA & Seattle, WA: April 6 - 16, 2010
The cities of Boston and Seattle recently hosted a group of twelve individuals from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland for a ten-day study-visit around the topic of corporate citizenship. The participants included business executives, academics, management consultants, government policymakers, and marketing directors. While in the U.S., the group studied the role smaller businesses can play in promoting such practices as employee volunteerism, environmentally friendly technologies and design, charitable giving, human rights/fair labor practices, and civic engagement. Consisting of academic seminars, lectures, and organizational visits, the program allowed participants to actively engage with each other and with their American counterparts. The meetings provided the group an opportunity to exchange best-practice strategies and to create professional networks with each other and with their U.S. hosts.
