Fellowship Program

Scholar Stained Glass

The Institute awards two types of in-residence fellowships to facilitate the completion and/or publication of academic work related to the Society of Jesus. The Institute Fellowship is a year-long appointment (September-May) with a stipend of $40,000. The Senior Research Fellowship is a semester-long appointment with a stipend of $25,000.

Both types of fellowships include personal office space and access to Boston College’s libraries, which include extensive Jesuitica holdings, as well as those of other institutions in the Boston consortium.

Fellows present on their work once per semester while at the Institute. They also engage with the wider academic community by attending relevant events and meeting with the University’s faculty members and other visiting scholars. The Institute’s fellowships do not include teaching responsibilities.
