1. Detention and Deportation Participatory Action Research Project
The Center for Human Rights and International Justice, Centro Presente, and Organización Maya K’iche’ have joined together to launch the Detention and Deportation Participatory Action Research Project. This project brings together Central American immigrant members of Centro Presente and Organización Maya K’iche’; staff organizers from each group; human rights lawyers; psychologists; and social workers to document how the recent upsurge of immigration enforcement is affecting immigrants and their families and communities. The aim of the DDPAR Project is twofold: to develop human rights research and advocacy skills among community members, and to produce detailed human rights documentation that can form the basis for sustained and effective advocacy campaigns. Boston College faculty and students associated with the project will also draw on the documentation to produce scholarly work in the fields of law, psychology, and social work.
