Sloan Work and Family Research Network

The Boston College Center for Work & Family supports, in partnership with the Center for Corporate Citizenship and the Graduate School of Social Work, the Alfred P. Sloan Work and Family Research Network.

Created in 1997, the Network is the premier online destination for information about work and family.  The Network serves a global community interested in work and family research by providing resources and building knowledge. Current, credible, and comprehensive, the Network targets the information needs of academics and researchers, workplace practitioners, state public policy makers, and interested individuals.  It’s the place to find high quality research and reports, easy-to-read summary sheets and briefs, as well as work and family topic pages – all in one location.

The Network offers:

  • Multi-disciplinary, credible teaching resources and access to the world’s foremost academics and researchers
  • Evidence-based information on cutting-edge workforce issues, talent management, and the impact of work and family issues on business outcomes
  • Unbiased policy data about work and family trends, legislation, and statistics without lobbying

Two key resources include (1) the Work-Family Literature Database, which contains over 10,000 bibliographic citations with selected annotations, and (2) the monthly Network News, which includes interviews with work-family leaders, updates on research investigations, and information about recent publications. Also, the site has a statistics database, fact sheets, an Encyclopedia, Glossary, topic pages and other resources.

Due to the generous support of the Sloan Foundation, resources are provided free of charge. However, users are invited to affiliate which enables them to receive the monthly Network News, literature updates and a password that provides full-text access to specific journals. Currently, the Network has over 2,700 affiliates. For more information, contact Karen Corday.
