The Standards

CWF, is an on-line survey tool that assesses an
organization's work-life culture. It can help your
organization:
- Evaluate its strengths and weaknesses in the area
of work-life
-
Compare your organization to the combined scores
of more than 50 companies that make up our national
database
-
Identify the specific obstacles that are
preventing effective work-life integration in your
organization, and ways to overcome these
obstacles The Index has recently
been expanded to include 9 elements
that are essential to work-life excellence. The
Center for Work & Family at Boston College will be
happy to assist you in completing a Standards of
Excellence assessment for your organization.
Please contact Fred van
Deusen for more information.
The Work-Life
Evolution Study, published in 2007, explored change
in workforce management strategies over time in order to
develop a better understanding of what will move the
field forward. The report summarizes the findings from
interviews, the Future Search Conference, and surveys
with thought-leaders in the field and provides a vision
for the future of Work-Life. Click here

the book for Spring 2009, for more information e-mail Jennifer Fraone or call

workplaces that support and develop healthy and
productive employees. We distinguish ourselves by

work-life through the context of a cultural change
model. The three member
organizations are our Global Workforce

Roundtable, and our New England Work & Family
Association (NEWFA). Each of our
partnerships provides members with access to the latest
research on "hot topics", CWF publications and
newsletters, and the opportunity to interact with other
professionals through our listserv and networking at our
meetings and web conferences. Work & Family Roundtable Founded in 1990, the Work &

Welcome to the Boston College
Center for Work & Family's first Center News Update.
While in the past most of our communications have
been focused on our 100+ Corporate Partners - leading
employers who are heavily engaged in efforts to create
exceptional workplace cultures - we have often been
encouraged to share information regarding our work with
a wider audience. Hence the initiation of this Center News
Update. As you may already know, the
Boston College Center for Work & Family (CWF) has
been a leader in workplace research and specifically
work-family issues since its founding in 1990. We strive
to connect the (sometimes very) separate worlds of
academic research and corporate practice in order to
create workplace programs, initiatives, and cultures
that support and engage employees as whole persons. We
believe this is essential to help employees work and
live up to their full potential as well as to foster the
well- being of effective employers, families and
communities. While our staff at the Center
is relatively small, our work covers a broad range of
issues including new career paradigms, workplace
flexibility, employee engagement, mentoring and employee
networks, dependent care, creating inclusive workplaces,
and global workforce leadership trends. We are able to
explore this wide range of topics thanks in great
measure to our close connections with leading employers
and academic partners. We hope you enjoy
this first edition of our Center News Update and
if you have any questions, please feel free to contact
us at 617-552-2844.
