What is the Center for Ignatian Spirituality?

A view of the eagle outside Gasson Hall a reminder both of Boston College's motto, Ever to Excel, and of the consistent Ignatian theme of the magis.

What is Ignatian spirituality . . .

Founded through a generous gift from the Jesuit Community at Boston College, the Center for Ignatian Spirituality is a university operation with a fourfold goal:

To communicate to members of the Boston College community the basic vision and history of the Ignatian/Jesuit tradition, especially its integration of the intellectual with personal, ethical, and religious formation and its commitment to uniting high academic achievement to the service of others;

To offer assistance to members of the university community, especially faculty and staff, to consider the meaning of that vision and to effect its implementation in their own areas of responsibility at Boston College;

To encourage and to support those faculty and staff who want to go further and are ready to assume leadership in this process in their own schools, departments, and staff assignments;

To serve as a resource for faculty, staff, and students for promoting conversation with other religious traditions represented at Boston College interested in Jesuit values with the intent to enhance the ethical and religious environment of the university and to serve as a resource and example for other universities nationally and internationally.
