Poetry
There are no guidelines concerning content or form, though overly graphic/erotic poetry is seldom accepted. The magazine can only accept submissions written primarily in English. Please send no more than ten poems per submission period. Poems should be typed and include the author's name, address, and email on each page. The Stylus Editors will record your information. All submissions will then be read and evaluated anonymously by the general staff.
You may either send your submission as an attachment to bcstylus@gmail.com or slip a hard copy with your identifying information under the main door of the Stylus Office at McElroy 129. Preferred formatting for submissions: text in Times New Roman 12-point font with the title bolded and in 14-point font; please left-justify the title. These specifications more accurately represent the appearance of the piece in the final magazine pages, which have a printable area of approximately 4.25" by 7.25".
Fiction/Creative Non-Fiction
Please send no more than five short stories per submission period. While there is technically no length restriction, works longer than five thousand words can rarely be accommodated. The magazine can only accept submissions written primarily in English. Stories should be typed, paginated, and include the author's name, address, and email on the first page. The Stylus Editors will record your information. All submissions will then be read and evaluated anonymously by the general staff.

Art
The Stylus publishes both black and white and color art. Please send no more than fifteen pieces of art per submission period. Digital photographs may be sent to bcstylus@gmail.com in jpg or tif format. Hard copies of photos may be slipped under the main door of the Stylus Office at McElroy 129. For large art, please send a high-quality digital photograph of your work (jpg or tif) to bcstylus@gmail.com, or send an email to schedule a time to leave slides or original works with one of our editors.
Original art that is accepted for publication generally cannot be returned until the respective issue is sent to the publisher (in the latter part of each semester). Please take this into consideration if you are planning on participating in showings or building a final portfolio.
Please note: we can only consider submissions from currently enrolled Boston College undergraduates. All submissions not meeting these criteria will not be reviewed.
