History of the Stylus

Founded in 1882, the Stylus is the oldest club at Boston College. It was originally published monthly, and included both the literary magazine and a newspaper that would eventually branch off to form the Heights, Boston College's acclaimed student newspaper.

Stylus took a hiatus during the second World War, as Boston College was temporarily shut down.

In 1950, Stylus published its first anthology, covering the best verse published between the 1882 founding and 1950. The next anthology was released in fifty years later, and covered the years between 1950 and 2000.

Today, Stylus is released twice a year, once at the end of each of Boston College's semesters.
