BCRFC Serving the Community

During the Spring, the Boston College Rugby Club worked in conjunction with the St. Columbkille School in Brighton, MA to organize a series of service trips. Thanks to the cooperation and assistance of Mrs. Jean O’Connor, the rugby team was able to make bi-weekly visits to the school to help watch over the students during the after school program. Teams of four to five students made trips to the school on Mondays and Wednesdays, helping the students with homework and setting up and overseeing activities to entertain the students for the remainder of the after school program. This program represents the Boston College Rugby Club’s first step in establishing a relationship with the faculty and students at the St. Columbkille School, following in the footsteps of Boston College’s recent partnership with the school. The service trips to the school have been a very positive experience for all the members of the team, and we would like to extend our gratitude to the faculty and students of the St. Columbkille School. We would especially like to thank Mrs. O’Connor for all of her help in organizing the trips, as we could not have been afforded this opportunity without her. The Boston College Rugby Club is committed to serving the community that has given us so much, and we look forward to working with the St. Columbkille School again in the near future.
