St. Columbkille BC Rugby Partnership

In a recent act of good will, Boston College has recently formed a collaborative partnership with the St. Columbkille School in the Allston-Brighton section of Boston. As members of the Boston College community who share the Jesuit passion for active service within the community, and as a thank you for all of the amazing opportunities afforded to the members of the Club, the one-hundred members Boston College Men's Rugby Club are expending their community service activities to the St. Columbkille School.

Utilizing the growing relationship between BC and St. Columbkille, the BC Men's Rugby Club plans to:

  • Volunteer at the St. Columbkille School providing academic reinforcement as tutors, aid to extracurricular and athletic activities, and services to the students most in need of one-on-one attention.
  • Volunteer in groups of four with an additional Group Leader who has previous experience working with children as a student in the Lynch School of Education.
  • Volunteer one day a week for two hours throughout the academic year.
  • Work with Professor Mary Walsh of the Lynch School, teachers from St. Columbkille's and BCRFC Faculty Advisor James J. Fleming, SJ.
  • This fresh relationship between BC and St. Columbkille's is the perfect setting for the Men's Rugby Club to use their talents as athletes and scholars while simultaneously aiding the faculty and students of the St. Columbkille School.
