BCRFC Announces Changes for Future

Boston College Men's Rugby has announced that after 6 years as the team's head coach, Brendon Worley will move on to pursue further career opportunities. Coach Worley graduated from Boston College in 1998 and was made assistant coach of BC Men's Rugby the third game into the 2000 fall season. He was promoted to head coach for the 2001 spring season.

The six years that Worley spent coaching at BC were some of BC's most successful and certainly most memorable seasons. Upon taking control of the Boston College RFC, Brendon took a club with 1 - 6 record in their 2000 season, to an undefeated regular season in 2004, advancing to the NRU playoffs and finishing with a record of 7-1-2. "The Club certainly would not be where it is today without the help of Brendon," said Captain Sean Hanel. "He took over our team at a time when most people would have run for the hills and turned it into a national playoff contender. It is a club that I am proud to be associated with." Coach Worley also improved the club's relationship with the community and Boston College. He is scheduled to receive his Masters Degree in Political Science from Boston College in December 2006.

The Boston College Rugby Football Club is proud to announce its new coaching staff, led by head coach John Dalton. Dalton leads a staff that brings a wealth of rugby experience to the club, as he will be joined by assistants Will Tonery, Jeff Monfette, and Hugh Galligan.

John Dalton, from Carlow, Ireland, moved to the US in 1995 and played for the Boston Irish Wolfhounds for 10 years, winning back-to-back National Championships in 2003 and 2004. John has previously coached at Brandeis University, and with the NERFU Boston Collegiate Select Side.

Joining Dalton will be fellow Ireland native Will Tonery. Tonery played for the Wolfhounds during their back-to-back national championships, and has been coaching rugby since his childhood. A former flanker and 8-man, Tonery will focus on developing BCRFC's loose forwards.

Massachusetts native Jeff Monfette played his rugby with the Worcester Men's Rugby Club that reached the National Final Four on 2 occasions. Jeff also coached the Massachusetts and NERFU Collegiate Select sides, and will work with the tight five.

Hugh Galligan is a 2005 graduate of Boston College. He captained BCRFC his senior year and led them to an undefeated regular season. Hugh will be teaching at West Roxbury High School this fall in addition to his coaching responsibilities with BCRFC.

Boston College RFC will open their fall season away at Brown University on Saturday, September 16th. BCRFC competes in NERFU's white league.
