BC Defeats Dartmouth
On Saturday, September 23rd, BCRFC faced Dartmouth at home in the second game of their NERFU league play. While the weather on the day was marred with clouds and light rain, the sun shone on the BC Eagles as they emerged with a 21-15 win over the Big Green. In what was an extremely physical outing from both sides, BC was able to hold off a late Dartmouth charge and protect their lead.
The match began with fierce offense from both team. BC was able to find space for the first try, but Dartmouth quickly answered with a score of their own. An interception by the BC backs gave the Eagles the lead once again, which they would not relinquish for the remainder of the match.
While the first half had seen four tries scored, the second half was a much more defensive contest, as Dartmouth managed to score the only try near the end of the half. In the waning minutes of the match, BC held off the Dartmouth attack with a staunch defensive effort.
BC's second side was also successful in defeating Dartmouth.
Moments before kickoff, a moment of silence was held in honor of James Scully Rourke (Jimbo), BC '80. Jimbo passed away earlier this year and in an effort led by fellow alum Peter Touhy, donations were made to bestow a new set of match jerseys to the club, dedicated to Jimbo. BCRFC would like to thank all of those who that contributed to the jerseys.
BCRFC is 2-0 in NERFU White League play. They will face Yale next weekend at the Irish Cultural Center.
