BCRFC Opens League Play with Victory

BCRFC Opens League Play with Victory

On Saturday, September 16th, the Boston College Rugby Football Club opened their 2006 season with a decisive victory over Brown RFC in Providence, RI. The Eagles ended with a 41-5 win over the Brown Bears, placing them currently at the top of the NERFU White League standings after week one.

After receiving the kick-off to begin the game, BC maintained possession for much of the time and managed to power through for an early try. However, sloppy conditions had resulted from rain during the week, and the pitch continually created problems for both teams.

The match continued on with Boston College retaining much of the possession, as Brown fought to gain control of the ball but was largely unsuccessful. Eventually, BCRFC was able to break away from the Bears and emerge victorious. Brown avoided the shutout with a try in the first half.

Boston College RFC is now 1-0 in NERFU White League play. BC will host Dartmouth on Saturday, September 23rd at 1:00pm at St. John's Seminary, Brighton. For directions, click here.
