I am living in Antiguo Cuscatlan which is right out side of San Salvador. It is a super cute neighborhood. On Monday's and Wednesday's I am spending my time learning and sharing with the community of Las Delicias. It is a canton of about 750 families in the campo about an hour and 15 minutes away from Antiguo. There I spend my time with two other CASA students teaching youth English and giving computer classes and the other half of the day visiting families in the canton. The people who are with us the most organizing classes and leading us on our visits are all our age working hard to get their community organized, support their families, and study at the university level. This group of 4 guys is abosolutly wonderful. I have learned so much from just the conversations I have with them. I mean everything ranging from the U.S. involvement in the Civil War here, to immigration issues, to globalization, to reggaeton, and a whole other range of things! It's great here I am totally loving it! |
