Red House Painters: "songs for a blue guitar"
buy it, buy it, buy it. for four years now, the painters have been turning out the most gut-wrenching, honest and melancholic melodies in the indie music scene. laden with acoustic guitars and a splash of that kinda twangy thing (a la Mazzy Star), the music is as brilliant with this album as it was with their first. slow, hanging, holding, and a bit of a sway . . .you'll cry tonight. having moved from 4AD to Island Independent, their music seems a bit more produced, but with Mark's poignant lyrics, all remains good in the private house that is red.
