From "the club isn't open" you pretty much get sucked into a world that is much more depressing than yours ever was. not to dwell on the hard-core junkie depression stuff, but lines like "going to nowhere/ ain't it just like/ happiness?/ going to nowhere/ I guess. . ." put against a solemn backdrop of a slow beat, slight of horns on a tired keyboard and you feel what I mean. the whole album holds the same mystique. it hurts. but it hurts good. --MK
