Friday, November 16th

Hey guys,
As we're all loaded down with work and looking forward to going home for thanksgiving, I want to invite you to take some time out and rest as G-d intended for us.  Temple Beth Zion, which is on the C line, has invited us to come down for Friday night services this week.  Services begin at 6, so we will be meeting at the C line at 5:25.  Look for Leon.  He'll have a Charlie card that will pay for all of you to get down there.  Elissa and I will be driving people back so we can share a delicious dinner of kosher Chinese food brought to us courtesy of Taam China, accompanied of course by Cheryl Ann's challah and some delicious wine.  Dinner will be, as always, in the Gabelli 2nd Floor Lounge.

And keep your ears and eyes open, our Chanukah party is coming up on December 8th! We will also be holding our board elections at the Chanukah Party, so if you think you could be President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Public Relations, or any other position (you can make it up, and if it works, we'll add it!) then send me an email by December 5 telling me what you'd like to be and why you think you'd be good at it.
Hope to see you all tonight!
Shabbat shalom,
Gulienne

Synopsis

O JERUSALEM meticulously recreates the historic struggle surrounding the creation of the state of Israel in 1948.  At the center of these events are two young, American friends-- one Jewish, one Arab.  The film is told from the alternating viewpoints of the Jews, Arabs and Brits, all of whom collide in their fight for the control of Jerusalem while bringing to the forefront themes of courage, terrorism, deprivation, politics and a strong sense of morality.  Their involvement takes them from the streets of New York to The Holy Land, where they risk their lives--making incredible sacrifices along the way--to fight for what they believe in, as the city of their dreams teeters on the brink of destruction.  The film, based on historical accounts from the best-selling novel O JERUSALEM, written by Larry Collins and Dominique Lapierre, offers a rich background to an explosive conflict that echoes the situation in the Middle East today.

Thursday, September 20:

Hello to all, especially those who signed up at Student Activities Day.

If you have not yet signed up to go to Yom Kippur services at BU, and you would like to go, please fill out a form that's on the door of McElroy 111 in the manilla envelope. Please do so by 11:45, as I will be collecting them at 11:55 and bringing them down to BU.  You can pick up your tickets from me tonight, between 5:00 and 9:00 in Voute 304.  If you have any questions before 5, please call my cell phone at 845-300-9055.  If you have any questions after 5, please call my room phone which is listed below.  If you have friends who would like to join you because they are interested, jewish or not, they also need to fill out the forms (or you can fill it out for them).  If you have parents who are coming that would like to attend services, please fill the forms out for them as well.  If there are no more forms on the door, here is the link so you can print it out yourself: http://www.bu.edu/dbin/hillel/bu_hillel_registration%20form_07_08.pdf

Do not worry about filling out the part in the top box or the money part.  Please fill out from Last name to Mother's address.  Please also fill out the bottom box.  The explanatory service is only offered tomorrow night for yom kippur services. I attended the one for Rosh HaShanah, it was pretty interesting actually, so if you're considering it don't feel bad.  Have an easy fast!  You will be getting a list of the times for services when you pick your ticket up from me. If for some reason, you know ahead of time you won't be able to make it to me within the 4 hours I have listed, please give me a call so I'm not just hanging on to your ticket wondering what happened and getting stressed about it!

Wednesday, September 19:

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,

For Yom Kippur, BC Hillel is heading down to BU for services.  If you want to join us, or you know someone who does, tell them to go to McElroy 111.  Hanging on the door is a manilla envelope with (and envelopes) for the tickets.  Fill out the top part and the very bottom part, and then slide it under the door in one of the small white envelopes. Try to get this done tonight, but definitely BEFORE (NOT BY, before!!) noon tomorrow because that's when I'm taking the forms over to get the tickets.  People can pick their actual tickets up from me between 4:30 tomorrow and 10 p.m. in Voute 304.  I will be taking you all down to services on Friday night, but I will not be joining you guys on Saturday as my aunt has an aaliyah at her temple, which is also local.

Happy new year, may you be written and sealed.  If you have any questions, call me at 845-300-9055!
