Spring 2008

Heightsmen Alums,

Coming up on Spring Break the current Heightsmen have a lot going on.  We¡¦re heading to Western Massachusetts tomorrow for a night of debauchery, followed by a gig in Brattleboro, Vermont on bSaturday March 1st. We¡¦ll be separating for spring break as some of us are traveling all over the world, from the Caribbean, to the west coast to Europe, and even a road trip featuring a ¡§Rock Band¡¨ tour.  (I don¡¦t know if some of you older guys have heard of the game ¡§Rock Band¡¨ yet, but I assure you it¡¦s a big one).  Coming back from break our plates are pretty full.  We will be starting recording and are going to Jeff Mastrangelo¡¦s or one of our new guy¡¦s Dan Mogelnicki¡¦s to put a dent in this process over Easter Break.  Along with recording we are possibly going to Providence College or Brandeis for yet another infamously sloppy Heightsmen invasion of other schools.

We did not take any new guys this semester but reports on our new guys from last semester are available, right now.  Dan Landau-Smith is a sophomore who is essentially allergic to everything he comes into contact with.  This suits him as he is also one of the dorkiest additions ever made to this group.  He¡¦s from the City of Brotherly Love, which also seems appropriate as he takes metrosexuality to a level I¡¦ve never seen before.  Our only new freshmen, Dan Mogelnicki, makes LJ look like a giant.  Apart from bonding with Father Leahy over India¡¦s economic superiority to China, he spends most of his time flirting with very young Sharps and making a fool of himself in the process.  We¡¦ve unoriginally labeled them Big and Little Dan (or LD) much to their joy at hearing some of the names other members have put up with in the past.

Besides recording and traveling, we have two main shows this semester.  Our main café is on Thursday April 17th at 7pm (susceptible to change, but an email will go out regarding the specifics if they do). Along with some old songs this show will be featuring a recent rendition of ¡¥Dancing in the Moonlight¡¦, Boyz II Men¡¦s ¡¥Thank You¡¦ and an Abbey Road Beatles medley.  To see off our seniors, Peter Heyer and Michael ¡§Mickey¡¨ Anspach, we will be having a shorter Senior Show on May 7th at 7pm.  We¡¦d love to see you all at our next show, and if you can¡¦t make it, then make sure to come out to our next Alumni Show in October.
