- The stars on the seal represent each of the ten Islands of Cape Verde.
- The corns represent the land and its traditions, while also signifying a duality of identity for Cape Verdean-Americans at Boston College.
- The book denotes The Book of Knowledge.
- The three chains symbolize Unity and its importance.
- The image, with 4 pointing peaks, a glowing ball in the middle, and water underneath, is a symbol of Cape Verde being tranquil, sunny, and surrounded by water. In other words, the image stands for Cape Verde's natural richness.
- The arrow pointing upwards signifies Success, both for the land and people which we are part of, as well more particularly for us (the CV students at BC). Notice the arrow starts with the land and build its way up, passing the book (education), the sky (beating all odds) and reaching Unity which all Cape Verdeans strive for.
