HistoryAgainst the Current is one of six a cappella groups at Boston College. It all started as an idea by Jihoon Shin ('99), Ali Graham ('99), and Ruth Johnson ('00) who wanted to form a group for the purpose of bringing the Gospel to the Boston College community through a cappella music. After spreading the word through campus fellowships, the group was finally formed towards the end of the fall semester in 1998.A non-denominational co-ed Christian a cappella group, Against the Current aspires to serve God on the campus of Boston College in conjunction with the campus fellowships, churches, and other organizations. ![]() VisionAgainst the Current's name is derived from the following passage in the book of Romans:

"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's Will is - His good, pleasing, and perfect Will." -Romans 12:2 | ||||||||
