BCCSSA Schedule of 2002 Fall Semester:

- New Chinese Students Reception:
- Time: from August 1,2002 to September 1,2002
- Purpose: to make the new students quickly adjusted to the new
surroundings
- What we did:
- answer new students' questions before they come to Boston College
(by mails & phone calls)
- arrange for a pick up from the airport
- help them find their living places, in case of emergency, provide
temporary housing
- assist them in the Orientation Program (August 24--August 26)
- Sub-Orientation for Chinese new students
- Time: September 10,2002
- Location: Higgins 275 (seminar room)
- Purpose: to give the newcomers suggestions and solve their puzzles
- What we did:
- introduce to the newcomers several experienced senior students
- explain some hot topics: Bank, Credit Card, SSN, Shopping, Car,
Computer, etc.
- serve everyone with food and refreshments.
- National day celebration banquet
- Time: 6:00PM-9:00PM, September 29,2002
- Location: Chau Chou City (Chinese Seafood Restaurant in ChinaTown)
- Purpose: to celebrate the national day (October 1) of China
- What we did:
- I & Yan Wang + her husband joined the banquet
- appreciate the performance of Chinese artists
- exchange with other CSSA members in Boston area
- Sports games on weekends
- Time: Sunday from 2:00pm to 5:00pm
- Location: gathering at Higgins Hall, play games in Newton Center
Playground
- Purpose: to help unite our members and to share some joyful moments
- what we did:
- October 6,2002 & October 27,2002 we had 13 and 9 people
respectively joining us; October 13,2002 this activity was canceled
due to the rain.
- provide refreshments and buy a soccer ball, a volleyball, 3
Frisbees
- play basketball, soccer, volleyball and Frisbees for all afternoon
- Trip to White Mountains
- Time: October 20,2002 from 9:00am to 11:00pm
- Purpose: to enjoy the beauty of White Mountains and to give our
members some recreation
- What we did:
- rent a passenger van from Budget Car-Rental Company, find a driver
Xiaoping Li
- drive all the way to Franconia Notch State Park in New Hampshire,
visit the Flume
- drive along Route 112, view red foliage and clear lake
- dine in a Chinese Restaurant
- Update the website of BCCSSA
- Purpose: to make it more convenient for our members and others to know
BCCSSA
- What we did:
- appoint Sen Zhou as the webmaster, Yong Sun & Xiaoxia Chen as
the webcompiler
- apply for the right to access and update: www.bc.edu/cssa
- edit and update this website
- Karaoke Dance Party
- Purpose: to show Chinese culture and to give our members some
entertainment
- waiting to be done
- other interesting activities in the future
