Bellarmine Officer Positions
Both
elected and appointed positions are available. Please see the Bellarmine
Society Constitution for a complete listing of positions, duties, and
qualifications.
Voting
is restricted per Bellarmine Society Constitution dictates.

Elected Positions:
"The President, Vice President, and Treasurer/Secretary and
four Class Representatives must be eligible Active Members of the Bellarmine
Society and in good standing with all university academic and disciplinary
requirements. The President must be an Active Member for at least two years
prior to holding office. The Vice President and Treasurer/Secretary must be
Active Members for at least one year prior to holding office. Once elected to
the Executive Board, all officers must remain eligible Active Members in order
to remain in office. Officers not remaining eligible and/or Active will face
probation and/or impeachment." [Bellarmine Society Constitution, Article IV,

- President
- The President shall preside over all meetings and
events. The President shall be responsible for keeping the Society
informed as to the dates, times, locations, and nature of meetings
and/or events. The President shall supervise and oversee all other
Officers. S/he is responsible for insuring Bellarmine Society
representation at all mandatory ODSD meetings and events, and for
maintaining regular contact with the advising ODSD Dean. The President
will also serve as liaison with the Club Advisor.
- Vice President
- The Vice President shall assist the President in all
of his/her duties. The Vice President is also charged with the
responsibility of administering the entire election process.
- Treasurer/Secretary
- The Treasurer/Secretary shall be responsible for all
financial records and dealings of the Society.
The Treasurer/Secretary must:
- Manage and maintain records, including all
financial records, attendance records, and meeting minutes
- Balance all financial transactions
- Prepare SOFC budget proposals by the designated
deadline and attend any mandatory SOFC
- Have regular contact with the ODSD Budget Manager
for Student Programs
- Attend the Treasurer’s Training meetings
sponsored by ODSD.
- Class Representatives (posted April 24, 2004)
- The primary responsibility of the class
representatives shall be to create and institute the programming agenda
particular to their class for the academic year. Class representatives
shall also be charged with voicing any specific concerns of their
respective class to the Officers at Executive Board meetings.
- Class Representatives will be expected to plan and
execute one event in the course of the academic year that is aimed at
their respective classes. This could be a social event, activity, etc.,
but must promote a sense of community within the respective classes.
They should also serve as a link between then needs of their classes and
Bellarmine programming for 2004-2005.
Appointed Positions:
- Webmaster
- The Webmaster will be expected to maintain and update
the site regularly. S/he will also have two major web-based projects:
integrating and enhancing the Bellarmine site with Java/Flash/HTML and
create a "PEP" system for LSAT prep vendors. The Webmaster must also
work with the Society's survey vendor in preparing and implementing a
yearly review of pre-law affairs.
- Editor-in-Chief, Pre-Law Review
- The Editor-in-Chief is in charge of managing the
Bellarmine Society's publication, the Pre-Law Review. S/he must create
article lists, compile written stories in MS Publisher, submit the files
to the Dean's Office and prepare this mailing for distribution.
Approximately four issues are expected per academic calendar
- Director of Community Affairs
- Director of Community Affairs will be expected to
operate the first ever Pre-Law volunteering program in the Boston area,
which would promote responsibility in law. S/he will be responsible to
planning and implementing this project, as well as overseeing it for its
pilot year.
- DCA will be expected to propose and execute two
events throughout the course of the academic calendar. This position
can be whatever you make of it -- be creative with your proposals!
- Director, Mentoring Program
- Mentoring Program Director will work with the
Bellarmine President and VP, BC Law, and likely the University Pre-Law
Advisory Board to plan and coordinate the first ever Pre-Law Mentoring
Program at BC. This will include developing a logistical plan for a
mentoring program, as well as presenting this plan to the Dean of the BC
Law School. S/he will be in charge of overseeing the program for the
pilot year. Please be sure your applications include some sort mention
of how you envision the program and what goals you plan for the year.
