Steve Fiske is entering his sixth season as head coach and program director at
Boston College. His first 5 seasons included some very strong performances in Boston
College's major races. In 2000, in his second year with the program, the team's status was
elevated from a club to NCAA Varsity Div. 1. Highlights from Fiske's first two seasons include
a gold medal in the women's varsity 8 in the 2001 Dad Vail Regatta; a final 6th place ranking in
the very competitive New England region of the NCAA; and 3 medal winning crews in the 2001 New
England Rowing Championships. These medals included a silver in the varsity 8, silver in the
second varsity 8 and bronze in the varsity 4. These crews, along with the 2001 gold medal winning
novice women's 8, earned BC the New England Rowing Championships overall women's points trophy.
Fiske was also selected as the Division 1 2001 New England Region Coach of the Year by
the coaches of the New England region.
Prior to coaching at Boston College, Fiske served as
an assistant coach at his alma mater, Fordham University, was invited to National Team pre-elite
camp in his senior year at Fordham, and also competed for the New York Athletic Club's national
rowing program, winning national championships in both sweep and sculling events in 1995, 1998
and 1999. |
