The
Boston College Crew Team was founded on campus in 1987 with limited resources
and has grown to one of the largest crews on the Charles River, competing among
the elite crews in the United States. Rowing out of the Community Rowing, Inc.
facilities near campus, the program currently supports over 100 student-athletes
between the men's and women's teams. The men's team operates as a club sport at
BC while the women's team gained varsity status in the fall of 2000.
The competitive rowing seasons occur in both the fall and spring, though the
team trains throughout the school year. Highlighting the fall season is the Head
of the Charles, held on the river on which the team practices daily.
Championship racing occurs in the spring where Boston College competes at the
New England Rowing Championships, Dad Vail Regatta, ECAC Championships and
Intercollegiate Rowing Association National Championships.
