Calendar of Events for 2007-2008:

Thursday, October 18 - Armenian Club Meeting in Gasson 303 at 8pm.

Friday, October 26 - Armenian food baking and dinner at Brittany Kademian's apartment in 2000. If you want to help cook/bake, come over at 5pm so we can get started. If coming for dinner, arrive at 7pm to eat. We will be watching an Armenian movie, "Vodka Lemon", provided by our club advisor after the movie. We will also listen to Onnik and other Armenian singers while playing some backgammon/tavlu games. This gathering will be a lot of fun, please don't miss it!!

Thursday, November 1 - Armenian Club Meeting in Gasson 303 at 8pm.

Saturday, November 3 - St. Stephen's Armenian Church Bazaar in Watertown.

Saturday, November 10 - Kohar Symphony Orchestra and Choir Concert at 8pm at the Colonial Theater in Boston.

Thursday, November 15 - Armenian Club Meeting in Gasson 303 at 8pm.

Friday, November 16 - Intercollegiate Boston Armenian Club Dinner at Fire and Ice at 7pm. Come have a delicious dinner and mingle with other college-age Armenians in this city from schools such as Harvard, BU, Northeastern, etc. We have reservations for 100 people, so if interested, you are more than welcome to come join us!

Thursday, November 29 - Armenian Club Meeting in Gasson 303 at 8pm.

Saturday, December 1 - Annual end of the semester club trip to the ALMA (Armenian Library and Museum of America) in Watertown and dinner at Karoon in Newtonville.

 

TBA...

1) we are going to have a co-sponsored event with the Slavic Club to watch "My Big Fat Armenian Wedding" which was filmed in Russia. This will happen sometime between the middle of October and middle of November, exact date and location TBA, but most likely in someone's dorm with some Middle Eastern food snacks.

2) Onnik Dinkjian, a famous Armenian-American singer, will be coming to Boston for a concert the weekend of Thanksgiving. Either our club will go to his concert downtown or we will try to bring him to BC for a special concert in Robsham/Gasson 100.

3) T-shirts will be ordered soon- if anyone has t-shirt ideas (or has something clever to put on them), please contact Brittany at: kademiab@bc.edu


BC Armenian Club Activities: From This Past Semester:

Friday, September 14 - Student Activities Day in the Dustbowl from 10am - 4pm. Look for the Armenian Club table with the flag and Armenian folk music playing in the background. Stop by for some freshly made baklava, hummus and tabouli, and sign up to join the club!!

Monday, September 17 - First BC Armenian Club General Meeting at 5:30 P.M. in Gasson 100. Come out to discuss all of the upcoming events we have planned for this semester and to give your input of what you want to see our club do in the future.

Sunday, September 30 - 5K Walk-a-thon at St. James' Armenian Apostolic Church in Watertown at 1 P.M. This charitable event is to help raise money for Habitat for Humanity, as they pledge to help build three houses for poor families in Armenia. Lunch is served before the walk, and ice cream will be provided afterwards. If interested, meet at the Robsham bus stop at 11:30 A.M.

Thursday, October 4 - Armenian Club Meeting in Gasson 303 at 8pm.

Friday, October 5 - His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of all Armenians, makes a trip to Boston and speaks downtown at 8pm. Cultural dances by Sayat Nova and an Armenian Jazz band to follow.

Wednesday, October 11 - The fate of House Resolution #106 is decided today. Result: the U.S. House of Representatives passes the Armenian Genocide Resolution, finally acknowleding this horrible atrocity and crime against humanity. Armenians everywhere celebrate.

Saturday, October 13 - St. James' Armenian Apostolic Church Annual Bazaar from 10 A.M. - 10 P.M. Club members to meet at 11 A.M. in front of St. Ignatius Church. Great ethnic food to include shish kabob, losh kabob, chicken kabob, pilaf, eetch, and salad. Raffles with prizes, music and dancing.

Graduated Armenians

Nora Bourghol - graduating from the Lynch School of Education this spring, Nora is moving onto graduate school at Colombia in New York City in the Fall. She was our club president and treasuer for the 2005-2006 year, and she did a great job with bringing the club together for her delicious homemade borag and tabouli, despite having such a busy schedule. You will be a wonderful teacher Nora!

nameAnna Abrahamian - a pre-med student, Anna will attend dental school after graduating from BC. She was one of our co-presidents and did a lot for the planning of our Spring event, "Memories of the Armenian Genocide". Good luck Anna!

nameTommy Anderson - majoring in english, Tommy will leave BC to become a paralegal in the area and eventually attend law school. Good luck in the future, Tommy!

nameMike Cherkezian - a BC graduate from 2006 from NJ, Mike was best known as the "Crowned prince of Armenia", a major character of which he played on "The B.C.", Boston College's favorite student made sitcom. Thanks for spreading the word about Armenia, Mike!

nameHrag Hamalian - a BC graduate from 2005 from NJ, Hrag worked hard in the Armenian Club to bring Peter Balakian, the famous Armenian American writier, to come speak at BC. He is a teacher in the 'Teach for America' program in California and currently attends Loyola Marymount Graduate School.


About Our Members...

Brittany is our president and will be a junior in the class of 2009 here at BC next semester. She is from a suburb of Washington, D.C. in Northern Virginia and is majoring in political science and philosophy. She has big plans for next year in recruiting Armenians on campus, getting more involved, and having more events, so please contact her at: kademiab@bc.edu if you have any questions or ideas!

dotGreg is our Vice President and will be a sophomore next year in the class of 2010. He is from Long Island in New York and has also taken on the position of Treasurer to help out with our club finances. Thanks Greg!

dotChris is the our Secretary and will be a junior next year representing the class of 2009. From Bergen County, NJ, Chris is majoring in Perspectives (philosophy), and he is half Armenian and half Greek. He is also a class senator and a member of the BCRC.
