West End House
The West End House Boys and Girls Club offers life shaping opportunities to immigrant and urban children and teens. Through caring relationships with trusted adults, as well as experiences and instruction in Education & Technology; Sports, Fitness & Nutrition; Leadership & Life Skills and Visual & Performing Arts, our members receive the guidance and support needed to grow into strong, healthy, self-sufficient adults. The Clubs mission is to inspire and enable youth from all backgrounds realize their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens.
The Club serves ages 7 to 18, Monday through Friday from 1:30 - 8:30PM with an average daily attendance of 220 young people. Members are encouraged to complete their homework and then venture to the wide variety of programs offered such as gym games, boys and girls groups, art classes, and game tournaments.
The kids will get to the West End House right after school, so in between 2:00 and 3:00 every day. They are ages 6- 18. Homework must be done first in the Education Center. Volunteers are expected to participate actively and engage the students. They are asked to make sure West End House rules are adhered to by the students and provide a safe and fun environment. High energy is a must for this 4Boston volunteer. Some of the kids favorite activities include 4-square, reading buddies, computers, arts and crafts, and basketball.
