Roxbury Youth Program
Placement
The Roxbury Youth Program is a full-service after school program for middle and high school teens from Roxbury and Dorchester. During the afternoon, the program provides tutoring and educational enrichment. After dinner, which is served at the program, workshops are held (sports, dance, creative arts, creative writing, Planned Parenthood, and field trips). RYP strives to provide a safe place for teens that will empower them academically and socially through diverse learning experiences, positive relationships, and leadership opportunities.
4Boston's Role
Volunteers help tutor small groups of teens or work with them one-on-one with homework. They also plan games, activities, and workshops for after dinner. Volunteers are there to work with and be with students as mentors and guides. They hang out with the teens, see life from their perspective, and become invested in their lives.
