Jackson-Mann Afterschool
Placement
The after school program of the Jackson-Mann community center provides a safe and nurturing environment for children in grades K-6. Many of the children have parents that need to work, so the program offers a secure alternative for after school hours. They strive to provide a positive learning environment and give kids the extra help that they need in developing their cognitive skills.
The after school program serves up to 70 children and their families offering a variety of learning and social activities.4Boston's Role
4Boston volunteers will participate in the literacy program. This involves either one-on-one reading or group reading. Homework support will also be offered for any subjects that the kids seem to be struggling with. This will be followed by an enrichment program in which the children will learn positive life skills. The volunteers are needed for support and to provide stability in their lives.
