Kennedy, Payzant Among Speakers at Lynch School Dedication Today

Boston College will formally dedicate the Carolyn A. and Peter S. Lynch School of Education today with a symposium titled "Educational Excellence and Equity through Partnerships" and a keynote address by US Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.).

Boston Superintendent of Schools Thomas Payzant will moderate the symposium, an invitation-only affair for LSOE alumni and friends. Other participants at the event will be: Ernesto J. Cortés Jr., southwest regional director for the Industrial Areas Foundation; Henry Levin, the William Heard Kilpatrick Professor of Economics and Education at Teachers College, Columbia University; and Nellie Mae Foundation President and Chief Executive Officer Blenda Wilson, Ph.D.'79.

Last year, the Lynches donated more than $10 million to the University, at the time the largest individual contribution in Boston College history.

LSOE has established a Web site with information on the event and the Lynches' gift.
