The first exhibition, "Songs of Ireland: Romance," was presented late last month in the Bapst Library lobby adjacent to the center. Others in the series will focus on themes of emigration, St. Patrick's Day and nationalism.
The sheet music, some dating to the 18th century, is one facet of the center's collections of recordings, books, and other memorabilia relating to traditional Irish music in America. Located in the MacNeil Room of Bapst Library, the center offers visitors an opportunity to hear recordings of Irish music, some of them rare and difficult to obtain, and to browse through a variety of reference materials.
