Monan Education Symposium Resumes Today

Gender equality at America's colleges and universities is the topic of this spring's Monan Symposium in Higher Education, which begins with a lecture today from 4:30-6 p.m. by Jane Roland Martin, a professor emeritus of philosophy at the University of Massachusetts at Boston.

Martin, author of the recently published Coming of Age in Academe, will speak on "In Search of Equality: Women's Four Entrances into Higher Education" in the Heights Room of the Lower Campus Dining Hall.

The second lecture in the Monan Symposium will be April 5, with Emmanuel College President Janet Eisner, SND, delivering "The Changing Landscape: Educating Women and Men in College Today." The event will be held from 4:30-6 p.m. at the Emmanuel College Library Lecture Hall, 400 The Fenway in Boston.

Named in honor of Boston College Chancellor J. Donald Monan, SJ, the symposium offers insightful analyses of key issues in higher education for professionals and members of the public alike. Sessions, which are free, include discussion and an informal reception.
