Platelet supplies are replenished only through volunteer donations and individual contributions. Because they have a shelf life of five days, the need for platelet donations is constant.
Platelet donors should allow for approximately two hours to complete the donation process. The Brigham and Women's Hospital mobile van will provide transportation to and from Boston College. For more information, contact Ted McCarty at ext.2-1075.
The Boston College women's basketball team will offer a special "Family Night at the Heights" for its Dec. 28, 7 p.m. game against Buffalo. Present your BC ID card at the gate and receive free admission for you and up to three other guests (excluding high school age). For more information call ext.2-3005.
Boston College achieved a 16th-place ranking in the fall standings for the Sears Directors' Cup, which is presented each spring by the nation's athletic directors to the college or university with the most successful all-around athletic program.
Each institution is awarded points in a pre-determined number of sports for men and women. BC compiled 75 points, tying for 16th with the University of Maryland. Colorado University and Stanford University were the top two finishers in the midseason rankings.
