Eagles Headed for an Hawaiian Christmas

The Boston College football team travels to Hawaii to play Arizona State in the Dec. 25 Jeep Aloha Bowl.

The game, which will be televised nationally by ABC-TV (Channel 5 in Boston) at 3:30 p.m. on Christmas Day, marks the second consecutive year that the Eagles have qualified for post-season play. Coach Tom O'Brien's team capped the 1999 campaign with a game against Colorado in the Insight.com Bowl in Tucson, Ariz. last Dec. 31.

Boston College finished the 2000 season with a 6-5 record that included Big East Conference wins over Syracuse, Rutgers and Temple. The fifth-place Big East finisher qualifies for a trip to the annual Christmas Day bowl game in Honolulu.

"This team has worked very hard this year and is very deserving of the invitation," said O'Brien. "The bowl will be a great chance for our seniors to play one final game in their college career and gives our underclassmen a chance to improve and get better."
