Appointments set for ministry, Irish programs; Student Affairs, CSOM, GSSW posts to be filled shortly

A series of recent and forthcoming administrative developments will result in several major changes to Boston College's academic and student affairs divisions.

At the May 3 Faculty Day event, University President William P. Leahy, SJ, said the search for new deans of the Carroll School of Management and Graduate School of Social Work have been largely completed and appointments are expected shortly.

Fr. Leahy also said the University hoped to finalize within four to six weeks the appointment of a new vice president of Student Affairs to succeed Kevin Duffy, who is stepping down at the end of the academic year.

On May 1, Carroll Graduate School of Management Associate Dean Hassell McClellan announced that he would step down effective Aug. 1 and, following a sabbatical, return to the faculty as a tenured professor. An interim replacement for McClellan was expected to be named shortly.

In addition, the University has announced appointments for two newly created positions: Rev. James Erps, SJ, who has served at Loyola Law School and Stanford University, as director of campus ministry; and Thomas Hachey, dean of the Marquette University College of Arts and Sciences, as executive director of Irish Programs.

A new director of the Institute of Religious Education and Pastoral Ministry will also be named shortly, Fr. Leahy said at Faculty Day.
