University President William Leahy, SJ, has announced that the Office of Publications and Print Marketing will now be known as the Office of Marketing Communications, and its director Ben Birnbaum has been appointed executive director of marketing and special assistant to the president.
Birnbaum, who joined the University in 1978, has directed the office since its founding in 1991. Previously, the Universityís publication and print marketing functions had been housed in the now-defunct Office of Communications.
Fr. Leahy said the changes reflect "the growing importance of strategic planning, market research and Web-based communications for our future. It is essential that Boston College be able to respond effectively to various challenges and opportunities.
"I believe these changes will strengthen our ability to do so."
"The staff and I are very grateful for the confidence placed in us by the University and by Fr. Leahy," said Birnbaum.
