Netzer has authored numerous books and articles on Irish manuscripts and metalwork of the sixth through ninth centuries, and has lectured extensively on the subjects.
During Netzer's tenure, the McMullen Museum has been the venue for several exhibitions of Irish art, including an exclusive exhibition of watercolors from the National Gallery of Ireland, and "Re/Dressing Cathleen," the first exhibition in America dedicated to the works of Ireland's current female artists. Last fall, the museum presented the North American debut of "Irish Art Now," a traveling exhibition curated by Declan McGonagle of the Irish Museum of Modern Art.
