Patkus Receives Honor

Burns Library Archivist Ronald Patkus has been honored by the Catholic Library Association in connection with his efforts to compile an online archive of the Liturgy and Life Collection at Boston College.

Patkus received the associationÝs 1999 John Brubaker Award for an article, "Creating a Digital Archive of the Pre-Vatican II Church in America," that he authored for the associationÝs journal, Catholic Library World.

The Brubaker Award recognizes "an outstanding work of literary meritÍof significant interest to the library profession" that has been published in the journal.

Patkus has overseen an ambitious project to post to the World Wide Web more than 1,000 color images of Madonnas, rosary beads and other traditional Catholic devotional items in the extensive Liturgy and Life Collection at Burns. The searchable archive is at /bc_org/avp/ulib/Burns/litartifacts.html.
